We are a professional volunteer group aiming to protect the ʻĀina through our knowledge of language, with “PONO” as a guiding value. Formed in the Spring of 2017, PONO seeks to take real action through language analysis skills. Language is all around us, and we are dedicated to closely inspecting what reality is constructed from that language. We believe language is one of the most powerful but unseen tools for change.

The Sea Turtle Association of Japan is a nonprofit organization pioneering understanding of the nature and habitats of sea turtles through empirical and scientific research and promoting action for the advancement of sea turtle biology, conservation and recovery in Japan. As one of their purposes is the conservation of sea turtles as an endangered marine species, they began operating the Muroto Schoolhouse Aquarium on April 26, 2018.

Hawai‘i’s tourism industry is expected to promote 10 million visitors by 2020. Therefore Hawai‘i, as a top vacation destination, faces an unexpected and unprecedented challenge to protect sensitive marine species from tourism.
